"Five Techniques of Geography" is a book published by World Knowledge Publishing House in March 2010.The author is Zhao Yucai and the translator is Jin Zhiwen.The book "Geography Five Jue" consists of eight volumes.Volume 1 is the foundation of the five elements and the preliminary chapter of the compass; Volume 2 discusses the life, prosperity and death of dragon veins; Volume 3 discusses the yin and yang of acupoints, rich, noble and poor; Volume 4 discusses the sand shape, the gain and the loss of position.Volume 5 discusses the fortunes and ills of water that advance and retreat; Volume 6 discusses the coordination of the four innings towards the dragon and water; Volume 7 discusses the judging methods of good and bad luck in the direction of twenty-four mountains and twelve water mouths; Volume 8 discusses the key points of geography and geomancy in the Pacific Ocean.The first seven volumes are mainly on mountain feng shui, and the eighth volume is on Pingyang feng shui; the main focus is on mountain feng shui.
Theoretical Basis of the Five Geography Techniques
Mr.Zhao Jiufeng said in his writings that the "Five Geographical Techniques" is "following Guo Jingchun’s Burial Sutra and Yang Jiupeng’s Qingnang Aoyu.", Liu Bingzhong’s "Jade Ruler", Bu Zewei’s "Xuexin Fu", Liu Qingtian’s "Disclosing the Liver and Showing the Gallbladder", Tan Zhongjian’s "A Grain of Millet", or invented by his ancestors, or directly stated his words." And refer to The Chalcedony Sutra, The Heavenly Jade Sutra, The Qingwu Sutra, The Black Sac Sutra, The Collection of Immortals, The Collection of Filial Piety, The Jade Axe, The Thimble, The Chance of Heaven Yuan, "Notes to the Son of Man", "Yuan Kanyu", "Three Talents Facing Secrets", "Sima Water Law", "Authentic Geography", "The Great Completion of Geography", "Si Danzi" and other geographical geomantic feng shui books.".
Defects in the content of the Five Geography Techniques
1.There is not a single example of geomantic geography in the book.Mr.Zhao Jiufeng claimed to have read "Thousands of Graves and Thousands of Tombs" in the book, but there is not a single example of geography and geomancy in the eight volumes of the book, which is a pity and unconvincing.Unlike Xu Jishan’s "Guide to the Son of Man in Geography", examples can be found everywhere.
2.There is not much explanation about the compass.In particular, it is not discussed how to use the money and how the relationship between the money and the life of the gods is not discussed.
3.The drawings in the book are messy and ambiguous, making it inconvenient for later study, and even prone to ambiguity and going astray.Fourth, due to the arrangement of the style, a rough look at the book does not seem to pay attention to the incoming water.It seems that the whole book is rarely discussed.After reading it several times, I realized that the "Nine Palace Water Dharma Song" and "Addendum" in Volume 1 are all about water.Perhaps because the time for Mr.Zhao Jiufeng and his disciples is too short, the layout of the book is not scientific.
